Hiking without packing your suitcase

Kamp-Bornhofen lies right on the Rheinsteig trail, between Sterrenberg and Liebenstein castles. That makes Hotel Rheingraf the ideal base: the train station is only about a 2-minute walk away, and one Rheinsteig stage ends right at our front door. In the evening, a glass of Middle Rhine wine awaits you on the terrace, along with our wine tasting in the historic vaulted cellar.

Braubach to Kamp-Bornhofen

16.4 km

Approx. 6 hours, challenging. Take the train to Braubach in the morning and hike back over the heights right to the hotel door.

Kamp-Bornhofen to Kestert

12.5 km

Approx. 4 hours. Start right at the hotel, pass the "Hostile Brothers" castles and return by train.

Kestert to St. Goarshausen

12.2 km

Approx. 4 hours. Take the train to Kestert, hike into the Loreley valley and return comfortably in the evening.

How it works

Have breakfast at Hotel Rheingraf and take your packed lunch for the trail.
Take the train to the start of the stage. The VRM combined ticket is included.
Hike with the Rheinsteig hiking map and stage plan we provide.
Return to the hotel by bus or train, without carrying luggage and without changing rooms.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to change accommodation every day?

No. You stay at Hotel Rheingraf in Kamp-Bornhofen for your whole trip. In the morning the train takes you to the start of the stage, in the evening you ride back from the finish. That is why no luggage transfer is needed.

Is the bus and train ticket included?

Yes. The Rheinsteig Hiking Week includes the VRM combined ticket for all bus and train journeys.

Which stages can I hike from the hotel?

From Kamp-Bornhofen you can reach the Rheinsteig stages Braubach to Kamp-Bornhofen (16.4 km), Kamp-Bornhofen to Kestert (12.5 km) and Kestert to St. Goarshausen (12.2 km).

How far is the train station from the hotel?

Kamp-Bornhofen station is only about a 2-minute walk from Hotel Rheingraf.
